What is TRE® ?

TRE® uses a series of easy exercises to help your body naturally shake off deep muscular patterns of stress and tension.

These gentle movements activate the body’s natural shaking or tremoring response—a built-in mechanism that helps us discharge built-up stress and restore a sense of balance in the nervous system.

These tremors are completely natural and often feel relieving, calming, and grounding.

TRE ® is not therapy and there’s no talking or sharing required. It’s a body-based practice that helps you feel safer, calmer, and more connected to yourself.

What to expect over 4 weeks

In four group sessions, each around 75 minutes, you will:

  • Learn how to practise TRE™ safely with guidance

  • Feel your body begin to release tension naturally

  • Build simple tools to continue this practice at home

  • Experience a deeper sense of calm and connection in your body

  • Receive advice for continuing the practice on your own

  • Have optional time for questions (no pressure to talk)

Question 1: What exactly is TRE®?

TRE® stands for Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises®. It’s a series of simple physical movements designed to activate the body’s natural shaking mechanism, which helps release built-up stress, tension, and overwhelm held in the body. It’s safe, gentle, and can be practised at your own pace.

Question 2: Do I have to talk about anything personal?

No. TRE® is a body-based practice — not a talking therapy. You won’t be asked to share your story, explain your feelings, or talk about anything unless you choose to. personal?

Question 3:What does it feel like?

The shaking (also called "neurogenic tremors") can feel a bit unusual at first, but it’s completely natural. Some people feel a sense of release or relief, others feel sleepy or emotional — all responses are welcome. You’re in full control the whole time, and can stop or pause at any point.

Question 4: What should I wear or bring?

Wear something comfortable that you can move in — like leggings or joggers and a t-shirt or sweatshirt. You might want to bring some water. You’ll mostly be lying down, so comfort is key.

Question 5: Is it suitable if I’ve experienced trauma?

TRE® was originally developed for people recovering from trauma and chronic stress. However, every nervous system is different, so we take things slowly and gently. A short health form is completed before joining to help make sure it’s a good fit. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact me before booking.

Question 6: Can I do TRE® if I have a health condition or injury?

In many cases, yes — but it’s important to check. Everyone fills in a short health form before attending, and you’re welcome to reach out beforehand to talk through any concerns. TRE® is adaptable and can be practised in a way that suits your body.

Question 7: Will I be able to do TRE® by myself after the four sessions?

Yes. The goal of this group is to teach you how to safely practise TRE® on your own. You’ll build confidence over the four weeks and leave with a tool you can continue to use whenever you need it.
